Pipe Line - What's Coming Soon!

Again, it's been a long time since the Pipe Line section was updated. But, as you can now see this has now moved to a page of its own so it ought to be easier to update.

The Web Sites

As ever there's been quite a bit of development done on both sites; the web pages themselves for the Weak Favourites and UK Horse Racing have been tidied up; though in the case of this site this is still an ongoing operation. Though the slight change in font and the colours in the heading has made the site a lot easier on the eye and, in my case, a lot easier to work with. So, in the near future do expect a lot of reorganisation of the site's contents in order to make the site easier to navigate.

The 'Envelope'

One thing that we have done for a long time is to look at a horse's 'envelope'. Basically, this involves looking at a horse's last victories and then see if today's run is under similar or more favourable conditions.

For example, Ironside won the 2.25 at Plumpton on the 17th of December, 2007. Looking back through the detailed ratings one could see that it won a 3 mile race a year ago. The class of that race (using our class figures) was 103 carrying 10-09 (ten stones and nine pounds, or 149 lbs).

The next time that he a lower class race with a similar or lower weight was at Warwick where he came 5th in a class 101 race carrying 10-04. Then on the 17th he ran in a class 94 race carrying 10-10 and won.

We are looking to see if we can summarise these points in the detailed ratings so that one can see how a horse has run in its past. There is going to be some amount of `fuzzy logic` employed here but we think that it could pay dividends.

Trainer Statistics

We've got the Trainer Calendar up and running and that seems to be well received. However we're planning on adding more information shortly.

Our plans are to show a trainer's perforance at the course, at the course with the jockey and with the jockey. We are hoping to present these over three intervals so that one can see how a trainer is faring.
