80. Selected Top-2 GB Selections. 2008-2011

Introduction

The following is a conglomeration of Goodness Knows How Many reports which are all based on Top-2 rated within Great Britain.

To qualify for inclusion here there has to be a 20% strike rate of the results over the four year period and the 1% stake should at least double a £100 bank into £200 or more.

Explanation

This new format report includes 5% commission cost on anything which wins.

Most of this is rather straightforward but the last two columns may need explaining. The first few columns are the normal results to one point level stakes so we can see if that £1 were to be placed on every selection then at the end of this series of time there would be £583 profit. Which is all very good. But, what about those who do proportional staking?

This is where the last two columns come in. The last column shows what a £100 start bank would look like if 1% of the bank was staked on each race. This means that the first stake would be £1 and then the stakes would change. Now, to stop the ridiculous calculations where, for example, three times the American National Debt were, on paper, placed at a late evening seller at Folkestone, the stakes are capped at £100. The figure before the last column shows the largest percentage drop that the account would have made following this system if we're using 1% proportional staking.

Summary

There are lots of good angles here. For example, look at the Profitable Jockey at Course on the Flat. A £100 bank would have ended up over £1,000 over the four years with a 22.9% strike rate and an ROI of 8.6%.
