Sooner or later we will manage to get these newsletters out each fortnight so that we can inform you of what's going on here at UK Horse Racing and the racing world in general.
The biggest item of news is that we are finally putting the ratings into a paying subscription format. There are many reasons for this and from the feedback which we've had; both by mail and on the forum, we seem to have the support of many of the ratings' readers. We reckon that about 90% of the ratings users are happy with the idea of charging.
Some of you have noticed that the Chat Page has now been renamed the Forum and has moved to a slightly different location.
The reason for this change was that there is some Nanny, or Big Brother, software out there which restricts what can be viewed. Because the page was entitled 'Chat Page' it ended up on a number of these blacklists. We tried changing the title but it was no good as the URL was now marked.
So, we changed the name and moved the chat page to the Forum and we're now not affected by these applications.
It has been mentioned here from mid-summer onwards that the ratings would be moving to a subscription basis. This wasn't an easy decision to make but it came about for a number of reasons.
The Costs?
We have decided to set the costs the same as the Weak Favourite site, in other words it will be £80 a quarter. However, for subscribers to the Weak Favourites site there will be a 50% discount.
In other words; the price list will be:
We will be offering payment methods via PayPal and we also accept good old fashioned cheques. More details on the payment process will be on the site in the next day or so.
Additionally, we will be making a significant improvement to our Ratings data at the end of this month. The data will also be available in CSV format. This means that it will be easy to open or import into Excel or any database.
Again, we would like to express a Big Thank You to all of you that have subscribed to the Weak Favourites site.
We hope that those who have subscribed will be happy with the returns; particularly on Monday when we had a complete run of eleven winners. The lowest price horse was evens and nothing worried us all day long.
If only every day would be like that.
However, Real Life seems to be bearing up with what we expected and it is with a great sigh of relief that we leave October with things progressing as they ought. It's always a time for concern when something goes out live, no matter how well its tested.
Those of you who have been following this excellent laying system will be pleased to see that the selections are now posted from a link on the Ratings Page.
They will soon be posted on the Weak Favourites site alongside the Lay-0 and Lay-1 selections and their results will be placed on the site. This, however, may take another week or two before the results are done though it is hoped that the Weak Favourites site will have the Roger-1 Lays selections displayed this week.
For a fuller description of this remarkably simple laying system have a look at this set of rules.
The Weak Favourites site is at www.weakfavourites.co.uk.
It has been quiet on the Betfair's 'Know Your Customer' verification front of late. We can only assume that the process is still going ahead. So, if you use Betfair then you should have a look at their new security requirements on the UK Horse Racing News page.
Yours sincerely,
The UK Horse Racing Team
