The UK Horse Racing Ratings

Gender

Quite simply whether the horse is male (m) or female (f).

This may be expanded in the near future to include geldings but, at the moment, the sex of the horse is identified.

The gender is considered to be important because general consensus states that the male makes for a better racehorse than a female. It is said that in a mixed race on the all-weather or flat sprints that females should be avoided or at least be considered twice before backing.
