This the final rating of the race. The bigger the number (the unit is in pounds weight) the better we deem the chance of the horse. This, of course, relates directly to the value price of what we think the horse's true price ought to be.

Obviously, being top rated is very important. The System 5 & 20s selections are based upon the top rated runner and there are some good systems based upon the top rated. For example, the Fair Weather Punter-1 System, FWP-1, selects a horse which is rated four pounds clear of the second rated horse and has the trainer's form in excess of 120.
