Calculating Accumulator Bet Returns

If one is fortunate enough to win some form of accumulator bet, i.e. a bet where the money from one component goes onto the next, then working out the returns can be complicated. Or, to be more accurate, it can appear to be complicated when, in actual fact, it's rather simple and straightforward calculation.

Use an ordinary calculator with a memory. Note all winners with Betfair style odds (2.0 for evens)

1. Enter 1st winner (betfair odds), store in memory
2. Add 1, multiply by next winner (betfair odds), add stored value, store total in memory
3. Add 1, multiply by next winner (betfair odds), add stored value, store total in memory
4. Add 1, multiply by next winner (betfair odds), add stored value, store total in memory
5. Repeat for each winner

Finally, multiply final value by the win unit stake to give you your total returns.

Works for any number of winners in single, double, patent, Lucky 15, Lucky 31, Lucky63....

If you have an each way component then you must repeat the calculation for the place component, first noting the individual returns for each winning leg in Betfair format and at the end multiply by the place unit stake.
