Horse's Name

Quite simply the name of the horse entered in the race.

The country code after the horse's name, for example "(IRE)", refers to the country of birth of the horse. This need not mean that the horse is based in that country as the horse could have moved countries after it was foaled. So be aware that a horse identified as Irish, for example, need not be trained and raced in Ireland.

One would have thought there wouldn't be a system based on the horse's name but, incredibly, there was one on the forum at the end of 2004 where each horse with an 'r' as the third letter of its name was backed. Thankfully, sanity has prevailed and this 'system' is no long actively followed.
