Number

This is the identification number on the horse's saddlecloth. The number is related to the horse's weight that it has to carry. The lower the number the greater the weight carried so the horse with the highest number is the 'bottom weight' horse.

In the United Kingdom the saddlecloth number has no other bearing. However in some countries, such as the USA, the saddlecloth refers to the stall number from which the horse starts from.
